In 1950, American breeder
Marguerirta Go forth succeeded in creating an entirely new longhaired
breed, one with Siamese's beautiful coat color and pattern and the
Persian's popular body type.
Five years later, the Governing Council of
the Cat Fancy recognized the Himalayan under the color point longhair.
The American Cat Fanciers' Association and the Cat Fanciers' Association
recognized the breed under the name Himalayan in 1957.
Himalayan's are on of the most
popular of all the Persians.
Himalayan points are found on the ears,
tails, paws, and have markings on their adorable little faces. All must
have vivid blue eyes. Eyes other than blue are disqualified.
Himalayan's are shown in the following point colors:
seal, chocolate,
lilac, blue, red, cream torte, chocolate torte, blue cream, lilac cream,
seal lynx, blue lynx, red lynx, cream lynx, torte lynx, blue cream lynx,
chocolate lynx, lilac lynx, chocolate torte lynx, and also lilac cream
lynx.
Himalayan's are sweet, gentle,
alert, and very playful. The are the perfect indoor cat companion. The
crave attention and they are loyal to their chosen family. They love to
sit in your lap and cuddle in bed with you at night. They are the perfect
companion to share your home with. They will love anyone that loves them.
